The mamivac® freezer bags are ideal for hygienically freezing breast milk. They allow for safe and space-saving storage: up to 3-4 hours at room temperature, up to 72 hours in the refrigerator, and up to 6 months in the freezer. The integrated closure ensures a secure seal and clean pouring of the milk.
To ensure the best quality, you should follow our recommendations for the shelf life of breast milk:
Fill the milk into the bag and note the date and time of filling. This ensures that the breast milk is used in the order it was expressed.
Thaw breast milk in the refrigerator (+ 4 °C; thawing time approximately 24 hours).
Leave it at room temperature (after thawing, immediately return it to the refrigerator).
The freezer bag can also be held under running warm water or placed in a water bath (at a maximum of 37 °C) for thawing.
These timeframes apply when expressing milk hygienically (washing hands before pumping, using clean equipment and collection sets or storage containers). To treat the milk as gently as possible, we recommend thawing it at room temperature. Do not thaw in the microwave or in hot water. Once thawed, breast milk can be refrigerated for 24 hours but should not be refrozen. Breast milk does not necessarily need to be fed at 37 °C - room temperature is sufficient.
